Bank of England hosts Economics students
L6 Economists visit the Treasury and the Bank of England
Lower 6 Economics students were extremely honoured to spend a morning at HM Treasury followed by an afternoon at the Bank of England at the end of January.
The visit started with a tour of the buildings which included seeing Churchill’s Balcony as well as the Drum Court where scenes from Fast and Furious and James Bond have been filmed. Time was spent in the Former Chancellors office, last used by Gordon Brown, as the students were given the opportunity to present questions to a current fiscal policy advisor who currently works with the debt and reserves management.
The afternoon allowed the students to move from fiscal to monetary policy as they explored the museums of the Bank of England with many lifting the gold bar – currently worth £398,000.
