Beth Meller, Lower 6, raised over £1,000 for charity in her first ever triathlon.

Beth participated in a charity triathlon at the the Spirit of Belron day to help raise money for Afrika Tikkun, a charity which supports and funds an Aids orphanage in South Africa. Beth has spent the summer not only training for the event but also raising sponsorship, including hosting a very successful bake sale. To date, she has raised £1,130.

"I am really happy to have raised so much money for such a worthy cause, and delighted that all my training paid off," explained Beth after the event.

Not only that, in this, her first ever triathlon, she gained a silver medal in her age group and a very respectable seventh place overall in her event, which tookm place at Eton Dorney Lake.

Following her success, Beth hopes to go on to complete more triathlons: "I loved the challenge of the three individual disciplines .. though open water swims will never be my favourite thing!"
