Work begins to replace burnt down pool
Work has begun on rebuilding the school swimming pool after it was destroyed by fire.
Builders at City of London Freemen’s School in Ashtead have started on the site ready to build the new 25-metre, six-lane pool.
The new pool, designed by Hawkins/Brown, is in keeping with the Music School and Boarding House, completed in 2014. The new building will be sited amongst the trees in Ashtead Park and will provide pupils with a new state-of-the-art swimming facility.
Head Boy Ben Sidwell and Head Girl Amelia Hart joined Roger Chadwick, Chairman of the Board Governors, to make the first dig.
The pool is due to be completed by Autumn 2017.
