All pupils have the opportunity of learning one or more instruments. Currently about one third of our pupils are learning an instrument.

All pupils have the opportunity of joining the many extra-curricular musical activities. These include six choirs, two orchestras, four string ensembles, two brass groups, two wind bands, jazz band and numerous chamber music groups.

Our attitude to musical education is reflected in the proliferation of musical activity within the School.

Frequent concerts, an annual Music Competition and an instrumental; recital series provide pupils with ample opportunity for public performances. Musicians are also invited to perform in London on a regular basis.

The Department gives performances of highly acclaimed fully staged musicals ranging from The Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret and Oklahoma! in recent years.

The Department runs a series of support services, including aural and theory classes. Termly ABRSM and Trinity examinations are held in School. Professional accompanists are available for advanced pupils.
