Freemen's Fencing Triumphs

In separate fencing events, two Freemen’s pupils have battled it out to enjoyed huge success in their individual tournaments in recent weeks.
Last weekend saw the 7th round of the Junior Epee Fencing event which took place at the Manchester Fencing Centre. Jessica B (L4) took part in the U14 category to win gold, beating the National under 12 Girls Epee number 1 seed in the final.
Ezgi K (L4) has just returned from the International Fencing Tournament in Bulgaria having secured an incredible 14th place in the U14 age group. Ezgi fought off huge competition from all over the world including Russia, the USA, Europe and Asia. “The tournament results will contribute to my European and World ranking; it was a great experience and I was very lucky to have had the chance to be there.”
As a result of their incredible efforts, both girls have now been selected to represent the English Fencing Team for the Challenge Wratislavia event in Poland next March. A fitting reward for their talent and dedication - Jessica has been selected for the U13 Epee team and Ezgi for the U15 Sabre.
