Great Britain training camp for Lower 5 pupil

A huge congratulations to Freemen's pupil Sophie in Lower 5 who was selected for the GB Underwater Hockey Tournament and Training weekend in Leeds.

Underwater hockey is where two teams compete to manoeuvre a puck across the bottom of a swimming pool into the opposing team's goal by propelling it with a hockey stick.

The previous camp in December went well, although Sophie said it was "exhausting!" She has committed to the training programme and is progressing well. The GB trial has opened up many opportunities to her, including the possibility of an international tournament in May.

In the meantime, she played in the U16 regional competition last weekend and for the first time, it included a girls only competition. Results for her teams were mixed - this may be due to a big difference in speed and strength between a 15 year old girl and a 16 year old boy!
