Lily Latimer Smith: “I will take 11 years of friendships to Oxford”

City of London Freemen’s School student Lily Latimer Smith cannot quite believe achieving 4 A* grades in her A Levels.

“I am very, very relieved,” explained Lily on receiving her amazing results.  “I was really hoping to get in [to Oxford], but to get in with 4 A* grades, I can’t even deal with it.”

Lily says she is “super excited” about going to study Chemistry at Oxford, but will miss Freemen’s.

“I have been at Freemen’s for 11 years. Some of my friendships are 11 years old.

“I will miss Ashtead Park every morning, the teachers and the pupils. The teaching is really good. They [the teachers] push you harder than you need to be pushed, which is a good thing.”

It has been a busy year for Lily, who was also appointed Head Girl last September.

“There was a lot of pressure at the start of the year. You have to be organised and prepared. The speech at prize day was the worst thing. I was so nervous, although I think I was trying harder not cry, than to not come across as nervous.”
