Another Succesful Year at the Bath & Otter Swimming Event

Great performances by all our swimmers gains more podium finishes.
On Friday 9 March, the Boys' and Girls' Senior Swimming Teams travelled up to the London Aquatics Centre to take part in the annual Bath & Otter Cup.
The Girls' 50m freestyle relay was up first and the girls were in heat 3 lane 0. The team consisting of J. Lawrence, C. Fakkel, I. Fakkel and E. Way swam fantastically well, winning their heat and qualifying in 9th place for the Final. The Boys' 100m freestyle relay was next and the team, consisting of; O. Way, J. Wilks, A. Teale and J. Bircher, swam a very fast heat to get them into the Small Schools' Final, qualifying 2nd fastest.
To finish the morning competitions off, the finals took place, with the Girls going first. They had a very strong field against them, but through some great swimming managed to finish 7th in the country! The Boys took spirit from the Girls' performance and in a nail-biting race; they set a time of 3:56:95 coming in 3rd position. It was a fantastic effort from all those involved and they definitely deserved their medals.
The afternoon's events were the medley relays, and the Girls (J. Lawrence, K. Lyons, E. Way and I. Fakkel) were determined to get a place on the podium too. They again won their heat with a great time of 2:07:93 and, due to a mistake from the favourites, qualified as the fastest team. The Boys (G. Berendji, O. Way, J. Wilks and J. Bircher) again swam a great race and qualified for the Small Schools' Final.
The Medley Finals were upon us and the Girls made the podium, swimming a time of 2:07:61 to finish in Bronze position! The boys' race was extremely close and, after another great swim, they managed to finish in 6th position.
To qualify for four finals and gain podium places twice over the day, was an amazing achievement. A huge congratulations to all those involved!
