A Week of Awesome Cross Country

From the U10s to the Seniors, it was a great week for cross country results both in-house and out of school.

On Thursday 8 March, Freemen's pupils went to Claremont Fan Court School for their annual cross-country event. The course was very hilly and on varied terrain, but the wonderful weather made it a thoroughly enjoyable race. We had a fantastic afternoon and our runners performed exceptionally well. The results were as follows:

Year 5/6 Girls came 4th out of 14 schools          Year 7/8 Girls came 4th out of 17 schools

Year 5/6 Boys came 8th out of 18 schools         Year 7/8 Boys came 13th out of 23 schools

On Saturday 10 March, we had 24 students represented Freemen’s at the Primary District Cross-Country Event in Reigate Park. There were over 400 talented athletes competing and we had some fantastic individual performances:

15th in the Year 5 Girls' Lions Race – S. Kochhar

18th in the Year 5 Girls' Lions Race – M. Herath

19th in the Year 5 Boys' Lions Race – Z. Colton

9th in the Year 6 Girls' Tigers Race – A. Turner

16th in the Year 5 Girls' Lions Race – A. Cook

Well done to all our athletes that competed! Full results can be found HERE

Furthermore, two Freemen's students, T. Cheshire and K. Valkenburg, have both been selected to represent Surrey at the prestigious English School’s Cross-Country Championships to be held this Saturday 17 March in Leeds. Surrey published the teams and stated that their "selection seeks to provide the strongest proven team of in-form athletes for the championships and confirms the large number of genuine quality athletes available for Surrey". We are very proud of Theo and Kiara’s achievements this season and pleased that their dedication to training has been rewarded with their selection. We wish them both the best of luck!
