New Years Day Swim
Ella Cooper braved the freezing sea embraced the competition
BRAVE souls, including Freemen's pupil took the plunge for a good cause at this year’s Weymouth Harbour Swim. The Christmas Day swim in Weymouth was first started just after the Second World War by two local publicans. It was later taken over by Weymouth Swimming Club then the Lions.
Just a handful of people used to take the plunge but the event has become hugely popular with people wanting to work up an appetite for their Christmas lunch, have fun and raise money for charity. Ella swam excellently and placed extremely comptitively in a large field. Although she said it was very cold she loved the event and is keen to take part again.
