Physical Education and Games

Physical Education

Our Physical Education curriculum is designed to give all pupils the best opportunity to Learn, Lead and Make a Difference through sport. Students experience a broad and balanced range of activities that aim to develop their fundamental movement skills, whilst also encompassing the non-physical aspects of sport. A great emphasis is placed on leadership and creativity in each stage of the PE programme and pupils are actively encouraged to take risks during their lessons, with the intention of helping them develop into resilient sportspeople.

Teaching is consistently delivered to a high standard, by our passionate department, and we strive to ensure that our pupils are always appropriately challenged and supported in the classroom. Freemen’s students also have the opportunity to learn in our first class facilities, which provide a highly stimulating environment for teaching and learning.

Games at Freemen’s

Sport plays a vital role in the lives of all pupils at Freemen's.

All pupils are provided with a wide variety of sporting activities through our PE and Games programmes. ‘Sport for All’ is a key philosophy here at Freemen’s, as we look to instil a lifelong love of sport and learning within our pupils, whilst also encouraging individuals and teams to achieve success at county, regional and national level. High standards are set for the numerous competitive teams, with an extensive programme of fixtures at all levels and for all ages.

Overseas tours are regularly organised with recent successful trips including our senior sports tours to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, as well as our annual U13 Junior tour to Jersey.
