Year 9 marks the beginning of a new and exciting stage of their school careers as they begin to make key academic decisions; they are well equipped to make their GCSE and A Level choices through our comprehensive programme of advice, presentations and interviews.
We take significant pride in preparing our students to join our Sixth Form as well adjusted, well-informed, confident individuals.
Pupils joining the Senior School, either from our Junior School or from another school, become part of a civilised co-educational group of young adults. Whilst in the Senior School pupils achieve a balance between allowing their individuality and creativity to develop whilst being guided by staff to become well adjusted, well informed, confident and well behaved individuals.
In the Senior School, the curriculum is as broad as it possibly can be. In year 9, there is setting in English, Mathematics, French and Science as well as a general set for the remaining subjects including Geography and History. Setting continues in the core GCSE subjects throughout Lower and Upper 5 but it should be emphasised that by attending Freemen's the great majority of pupils achieve ten good GCSE grades whatever set they are placed in.

One of our principal aims as a school is to provide relevant opportunities for pupils to expand their horizons intellectually and socially; athletically and creatively; emotionally and spiritually. Our extensive extra-curricular programme means that all students should be able to find an activity to challenge and inspire them.

The Haywood Centre provides an ideal base for the Senior School. It is a modern building incorporating well equipped classrooms, I.T. & multimedia rooms and the Library. Plus the brand new Swimming Pool was opened by the Lord Mayor of London in December 2017.
