In February 2021, Freemen’s launched an online maths support programme called Strength in Numbers, based on a programme developed by Colet Mentoring, a partnership between St Paul's School and EasyA, an online maths tutoring app.  

The programme involves volunteer Year 12 and Year 13 students currently studying maths A Level, providing support via a WhatsApp type app to a targeted group of Year 7-10 students, during designated homework hours - Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings between 6.30pm - 7.30pm.  All online conversations are recorded for safeguarding and training purposes, and the homework sessions are monitored in real-time by a member of Freemen’s staff.

During the first two months we have trained over 80 volunteer A level maths students from City of London School, City of London School for Girls, The Beacon School, and students from Freemen’s Sixth Form.

The programme is being offered to all City of London secondary-phase schools, along with local partner schools, with the aim of providing maths support to a large number of students across all our partner schools.
