Uniform
School uniform and, for the Sixth Form, a professional dress code, makes an important contribution to the ethos of the School. It gives pupils a sense of identity and puts them in the right frame of mind to learn and to give of their best. It is also important that pupils maintain a high standard of uniform when in the public eye travelling to and from the School.
New uniform
In January 2022, we conducted a major uniform review, with a view to begin introducing a new uniform in September 2022. Following a rigorous tendering process in the autumn, we have appointed our new uniform supplier. The chosen supplier works with more independent schools than any other provider, and we are confident that they will provide an exceptional service for our busy parents.
The new uniform can be seen in the guide below. The garments will be available to purchase from the end of June 2022 onwards, from our new supplier schoolblazer.com, ready for the academic year 2022-23.
Until September 2023, pupils will be able to wear either the new or legacy uniform, with the new uniform code only becoming compulsory in September 2023. However, pupils should either they wear the old uniform OR the new uniform but not a mixture of the two.
Schoolblazer will also be supplying the sports kit. Although there are minor cosmetic differences between the Schoolblazer version of the sports kit and the outgoing one, the two versions are fully interchangeable.
FSA -Second Hand Uniform Shop
The Freemen’s School Association runs an on-site second hand uniform shop selling uniform and sports kit and equipment. We are located in Philp House and we open several times a term for sale of second-hand uniform and kit items. Our prices are pitched significantly lower than for new uniform – remember to check here first! We are always looking for volunteers to help with sorting and pricing, or with running the sales on our sale days.
The second-hand uniform shop is open from 11.00am - 12.30pm on the following dates:
Saturday 29 April 2023
Saturday 27 May 2023
Saturday 24 June 2023
In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, please continue to wear face coverings in the shop.
Parents wishing to sell uniform: Please note the following:
The shop sells only current uniform and sports kit. We also accept sports equipment and footwear in good condition.
50% of the sales proceeds are donated to the FSA and 50% returned to the seller. Should you wish to donate the full proceeds, please stipulate "FSA donation".
For any items for sale, please attach a completed label (see pdf below) with a safety pin. We also sell safety pins in the shop - £2 for a box of 30.
Uniform, kit and equipment for sale can be left with the Gatehouse staff at any time, or dropped into the shop when open, and will then be priced ready for the next sale.
The shop reserves the right to dispose of uniform which is unfit for sale, or which remains unsold after one year. Download the labels below.
