The Old Freemen’s Association (OFA) is separate to the School’s Alumni programme and is a group for Old Frees and more widely for friends of Freemen’s and retains a strong sporting focus. It is administered and organised by volunteers and operates alongside the School’s Development office. They run thriving cricket, hockey and rugby clubs and also offer badminton, squash, touch rugby, five-a-side football, aerobics and pilates classes.
The rugby club fields teams every Saturday with players aged 18 to 50+ with training every week. In the summer months we hold touch-rugby sessions for all ages. Our ladies hockey side plays on Saturday afternoons and has enjoyed great success over recent seasons.
They also run three cricket league sides in collaboration with the neighbouring village of Headley, offering competitive Saturday cricket in the Surrey Downs League plus a more relaxed Sunday XI alternative.
They organise social events such as Dinner Dances, lunches, themed evenings and parties and keep in touch with alumni through our quarterly publication, ‘The Ashtead Link’, which includes updates from the Association about life at the Park, sporting results and achievements and information about our members.
