These are exciting times at Freemen’s. There is a new senior leadership team in place which is moving the school in new and challenging directions. We are introducing a Free Minds programme in the Sixth Form to stretch, challenge and broaden their horizons. We are also introducing a Scholarship Programme across the School to develop the intellects and skills of our most academically able. Many new and stimulating management roles have recently been created at the School as we aim to nurture and develop the skills and talents of all of our staff. We believe that if we can motivate and inspire pupils and staff to give of their best at all times, the School will continue to grow and thrive.
There are approximately 100 full and part time staff in the Junior and Senior schools. A small number of staff involved in boarding live on site. Staff facilities include a modern and well equipped staff room in both the Senior and Junior Schools. There is substantial technical support in the Sciences and technical subjects and an up to date reprographics centre provides staff with excellent facilities to support teaching and administrative duties.
Transport links are good; the School is a mile from Ashtead station with regular services to Epsom and London and south to Leatherhead and Guildford. The M25 junction 9 is a seven-minute drive from the School.
As well as enjoying the beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities at Freemen’s – including lunch , working here brings with it a number of other benefits.
We are all employees of the City of London Corporation, an organisation steeped in almost 1,000 years of history. In addition to providing the normal functions of a Local Authority, the City proudly maintains its heritage through a series of ceremonial functions, including the Lord Mayor’s Show, that uphold the distinctive nature of the City and the City of London Corporation and all staff at Freemen’s are encouraged to get involved.
The City offers an attractive employment package which includes a competitive salary and pension scheme. Beyond the monetary benefits, our links with the City mean that we are able to provide excellent training and development opportunities. We have a structured induction process for both teaching and non-te3aching staff and are keen to provide as many opportunities as possible to develop staff. Annual appraisals underpin the process, providing a formal means of acknowledging and rewarding staff for their contribution, and identifying development opportunities and training needs. Staff are encouraged to get involved in Co-curricular activities which add to the educational experiences of the children as well as their own development.
We have high expectations of our staff – as we do our pupils – and provide the structure and support to enable them to reach their full potential and give their very best at work. Our staff are proud to work for Freemen’s and that is evident in the way they are committed to achieving their very best in all that they do.
