Between 18th and 23rd October, thirty students from U5 to U6 travelled to Portugal for the Benfica Football Tour, enjoying a week filled with football, sunshine and unforgettable shared experiences. The trip offered the perfect mix of competition, camaraderie and fun, as pupils represented Freemen’s with pride both on and off the pitch.

The week began with a pupil-organised beach football tournament on the sands of Costa Caparica — a brilliant ice-breaker that saw new friendships form straight away. Both Freemen’s teams faced strong Portuguese opposition, showing great teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship. The A Team recorded an impressive draw against GD Pescadores and a thrilling 2–1 win over Os Belenenses, while the B Team battled bravely in two competitive fixtures, earning praise for their spirit and unity.

Off the pitch, students took part in a lively padel tournament, a surfing session and an entertaining quiz night hosted by the school captains, as well as a professional training session at the Benfica Academy, where they impressed coaches with their discipline and enthusiasm.

The tour perfectly captured the Freemen’s spirit — combining ambition with teamwork, challenge with laughter, and sport with friendship. A huge thank you to the staff who made the trip possible and to our pupils for making it such a memorable week!
