We want your child to have the opportunity to take part in music and drama.
The performing arts play a large role at Freemen's with large productions, musicals, concerts and choirs.
Drama
Your child will have access to drama at whatever point they join Freemen's. It is either embedded through the curriculum in the early years or as discreet subjects from Year 7. You can study drama at GCSE or at A Level.
Recent productions include the world premiere of Just William's War, an outdoor production of Lord of the Flies and There's A Leak at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Freemen's has a history of achieving successful placement of students into top London Drama Schools and onto drama degree courses. Many alumni are working as actors and technicians in the theatre, film and television industries, including BAFTA and Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield.
Music
We believe that music is for everyone. There is a wide range of activities on offer and your child will be encouraged to participate in the musical life of the school, whether they are beginners or at an advanced level.
Your child will receive one class music lesson until the age of 14, covering a myriad of different musical styles and genres. In Year 10 they may opt to take GCSE or study towards A Level at Sixth Form.
Outside of the classroom, your child has the opportunity to learn one or more musical instruments.
About one third of our pupils are currently learning an instrument and often 75% of a class in the Junior School have signed up for individual music tuition.
We have choirs, orchestras, brass ensembles, string ensembles, jazz bands and an extensive Chamber Music Programme for more advanced students.
