Surrey Rugby 7s Tournament

This Wednesday, Freemen’s 1st 7s Rugby Team competed in the Surrey Rugby 7s Tournament at Richmond Athletic Club.
This competition is open to school’s nationally so there was a number of very strong rugby schools attending. The Freemen’s boys did really well and showed great resilience to come through a group containing three powerhouses of rugby teams!
They unfortunately lost to both Milfield (lost 5 tries) and Seaford (lost 5 tries to 1) but held the ball up well and showed some excellent tactical awareness.
They then went on to beat Rugby School 5-3 so qualified for Surrey Plate.
In the quarter final they beat RGS Guildford 26-19 and then played Dulwich College in the semi final. A close game resulted in a 7-7 draw at full time and it had to go extra time. Dulwich then unfortunately won with a golden try.
Freemen’s are really proud of all the players who competed and the character traits they showed. Well done to all for their positive attitude and determination!
